I never realized California had King Crabs until I saw some for sale at the Santa Barbara Fisherman’s market. I bought two of them out of curiosity – and was rewarded with a wonderful tasting crab that was every bit as good as their Alaskan brothers. You can tell it’s a relative of the Alaskan King Crab because it only has 8 legs. True crabs like Dungeness are decapods, so they have 10 legs.
