There are many alternative types of rod holders that will work just as well without damaging the railings; (3) When we had the angling center Boyd would often provide a net to use to bring up the fish from the water. The angling center is now closed and you will need to bring your own hoop net; (4) There are some local fishing clubs as well as UPSAC but I do not have their contact information. I am sure you will quickly make friends with the locals on the pier. It's mostly a nice group of guys. I live in Visalia but will be moving to Goleta in a few weeks. In the article about the Goleta Pier, you did not mention if overhead casting is allowed, is It? Is the Per railing made of wood and can anglers use any kind of rod holders that screw into the wood rail? Does the Pier provide nets to be lowered for netting fish or do anglers provide their own? My Son is the construction Super for the new Santa Barbara Cancer Center, which will take several years to complete, so I will be doing a lot of fishing on The Goleta Pier. In the past, We fished out of San Diego, Long Range on the Excel. I recently turned 82 years of age so I can say Been there done that and relax on Pier fishing.
